REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING

MINUTES

PRESENT:      Samuel Allen, Mayor – Not Present

Michael Austin, Councilman

Nathan Wyatt, Councilman

Todd Rutledge, Councilman

CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Allen welcomed everyone to the meeting of the Resaca City Council.

INVOCATION

Councilman Todd Rutledge lead the meeting in prayer.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Allen led the council meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag.

Attorney Brandon Bowen advised that he had spoken with Mayor Allen and he asked that Councilman Nathan Wyatt be appointed Mayor Pro Tem. Councilwoman Adams made a motion to appoint Councilman Wyatt, Councilman Rutledge seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed.

MINUTES

Mayor Pro Tem Wyatt ask for a motion to waive the reading of the minutes from the March meeting Councilman Austin made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes. Councilman Rutledge seconded the motion. All in favor, the motion passed. Mayor Pro Tem Wyatt ask for a motion to approve the minutes from March meeting. Councilwoman Adams made the motion to accept the minutes. Councilman Austin seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed.

NEW BUSINESS

Ingle House Bids – There were no bids so this was struck from the meeting.

Battle of Resaca – Mayor Pro Tem Wyatt made a recommendation to give $2000 to the Battle of Resaca Fund. Councilwoman Adams made a motion to give $2000 this year and to include $2000 the next 2 years in the budget.

Donation to the softball team – After discussion, Councilman Austin said his concern is that if we give to one team other teams may request donations and he doesn’t feel we can give to every team. Attorney Bowen also advised that as a Government we can’t give donations of this type. The decision was made not to donate.

ROAD AND STREETS

No new issues with roads or streets.

Sheriff’s Report

Lt. Jenkins gave the report. The report is attached to minutes.

LIGHTS

Councilwoman Adams reported no problems.

RECREATION

Councilman Rutledge gave the recreation report. Report is attached.

MAINTENANCE REPORT

Randy reported the equipment in the gym has been fixed. He is going to order new signs for around the ball fields. Mayor Pro Tem Wyatt advised he has not gotten all the quotes for the painting of the community room so it will have to be put off for a couple more weeks.

ADJOURMENT

Mayor Pro Tem Wyatt asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Councilwoman Adams made a motion to close the meeting. Councilman Rutledge seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed.
