MINUTES

CALL TO ORDER

Councilman Talley welcomed everyone to the meeting of the Resaca City Council. He announced that we do not have enough present tonight to have a quorum and that means that we cannot vote on any business or have any business action.

INVOCATION

Councilman Talley to lead the group in prayer.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Councilman Talley led the council meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag.

MINUTES

Councilman Talley made the announcement that the minutes can’t be voted on tonight but the minutes are available for inspection. They will be unofficial until the next meeting.

NEW BUSINESS

 Keith West – Battle of Resaca.

Mr. West gave a report on the Battle of Resaca for this year. He said that this year they broke even on the Battle costs and they had a good show of people. He asked that we consider putting them on the 2016 budget and will return in April of 2016 to ask the council to support the Battle again next year.

PA System for Council Meetings.

Councilman Talley brought before the Council a sheet on a PA system that the council could consider for purchase.

Bob Peoples – Sewer Update.

Mr. Peoples gave an update on the sewer design and gave preliminary maps for the council to review. Project Manager Mitch Reed put together a letter for himself and the Mayor to sign to allow Peoples and Quigley Inc. to proceed with the design of Phase II.

UPDATES

 Sewer Project –

Bob Peoples gave an update on the sewer project. He asked for a letter of notice to proceed with preliminary and final design of Phase II. The letter was shown to the council and will be signed by the Mayor and Project Manager. Project Manager Mitch Reed gave an update on the Loan and the line of credit. Mr. Peoples will give another update at the next regular Council Meeting on November 10, 2015.

Rail Road Crossing –

Councilman Talley advised that he has spoken with Ms. Bowman from CSX. She was unable to attend the meeting due to conflicting schedules but she will set up a meeting with the Mayor and discuss the problem with the RR crossing.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS

Sheriff’s Report

Deputy Henry gave the report. The report is attached to minutes.

ROAD AND STREETS

No report.

ORDINANCE OFFICER

No report from Ordinance Officer.

LIGHTS

Councilwoman Makonis reported that she has turned in all light problems and they have been fixed.

RECREATION

Councilman Talley gave the recreation report. Report is attached. The Recreation department will be purchasing a new rowing machine in the near future. The Resaca Fall Festival will be Saturday, October 17 between 5pm and 9pm. Councilman Talley announced the open City Council position for anyone that is interested.

MAINTENANCE REPORT

No report. Councilman Barton advised that there were a few ground hogs at the Ingle property but he has set out some snares to catch them.

Councilman Talley announced that there would not be a formal closing but everyone is free to leave.
