MINUTES

PRESENT:           Samuel Allen, Mayor

CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Allen welcomed everyone to the meeting of the Resaca City Council.

 

INVOCATION

Councilman Todd Rutledge lead the meeting in prayer.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Allen led the council meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag.

MINUTES

Mayor Allen swore in newly appointed Councilwoman Sandy Adams. Councilwoman Adams repeated the oath and was sworn in. Mayor Allen ask for a motion to waive the reading of the minutes from the April 12th meeting Councilman Wyatt made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes. Councilman Rutledge seconded the motion. All in favor, the motion passed. Mayor Allen ask for a motion to approve the minutes from April 12th meeting. Councilman Wyatt made the motion to accept the minutes. Councilman Rutledge seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed.

NEW BUSINESS

 Renew contract with Mauldin Trash Service –

Mayor Allen ask for a motion to renew the contract with Mauldin Trash. Councilman Rutledge made the motion. Councilwoman Adams seconded the motion. All in favor. Motion passed

UPDATES

 Ordinance Officer

Mayor Allen gave an update on where we are with Gordon County on signing an agreement to use the County Ordinance Officer. Gordon County Commissioner Chad Stewart was in attendance and gave a briefing on what the County needs to make their decision.

Purchase Pressure Washer

Councilman Wyatt gave a summary of what kind of pressure washer the town is looking to purchase. Mayor Allen ask for a motion to purchase the pressure washer. Councilman Rutledge made the motion to purchase the pressure washer. Councilwoman Adams seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed.

Maintenance Man Benefits

It was brought to the council’s attention that Maintenance man Randy Wheat has been with the city for many years and has not been receiving vacation time. The Mayor ask for the council to approve giving 2 weeks vacation time per year to Randy. Councilman Rutledge made the motion to approve vacation time. Councilwoman Adams seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS

ROAD AND STREETS

Councilman Wyatt gave a report on Gordon County completing the road work for us on Dixie Street.

Sheriff’s Report

Lt. Jack Jenkins gave the report. The report is attached to minutes.

LIGHTS

No problems.

RECREATION

Councilman Rutledge gave the recreation report. Report is attached.

MAINTENANCE REPORT

Nothing to report.

ADJOURMENT

Mayor Allen asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Councilman Wyatt made a motion to close the meeting. Councilwoman Adams seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed.
