REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING

MINUTES

CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Allen called the meeting of the Resaca City Council to order.

 

INVOCATION

Mayor Allen asked Councilman Talley to lead the group in prayer.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Allen led the council meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag.

MINUTES

Councilwoman Makonis made a motion to waive the reading of the July Minutes. Councilman Talley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Mayor Pro Tem Reed made a motion to adopt the July Minutes. Councilman Talley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS

 Award Lawn Care Contract:

Mayor Allen read aloud the Bids on the Lawn Care Contract. Councilwoman Makonis made the motion to accept the Lawn Care Contract with J&T Lawn Services in the amount of $13,200.00. Mayor Pro Tem Reed seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

North Georgia Survey Report.

North Georgia Survey Representative gave his report during the work session.

Approve Legal Contract between the Town of Resaca and Jenkins and Bowen, P.C. for the USDA Loan Grant Sewer Project.

Mayor Pro Tem Reed made a motion to accept the legal service agreement with Jenkins and Bowen and the letter to Tammy Decker with the correction on the Mayors name. Councilwoman Makonis seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Approve Clerks Salary

Mayor Pro Tem Reed made the motion to increase the Clerks salary by 3%, effective immediately. Councilman Talley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

UPDATES

 Ingle House –

Michael Brown was detained and not present to give the update on the Ingle house. The Mayor and Council have a copy of his inspection report and recommendation letter.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS

Sheriff’s Report

Lt. Jimmy Shaw read the report – copy attached to minutes.

ROAD AND STREETS

Mayor Pro Tem Reed reported that there is a problem on Taylor Ridge Road again. Mayor Allen will contact Barry Hice with the Gordon County Road Dept. to see what can be done to correct the problem. Mayor Allen will have North Georgia Surveyors immediately start a survey on this road.

ORDINANCE REPORT

Kelly Thurman, Ordinance Officer gave update on properties that he has been working on. He has made contact with the person in charge of 237 Pine Crest and will be speaking with her again this week.  Mayor Pro Tem ask Officer Thurman to write up a report for the attorney to look over to see how the Town can proceed.

LIGHTS

No report. Randy Wheat reported that King Street light is flashing on and off and that he was advised that the lights need to be updated. Councilwoman Makonis will check Brent at NGEMC about updating the lights.

RECREATION

Councilman Talley gave the recreation report. Report is attached. Starting 30 days from next Monday, Sept 17, 2015 we will not accept single daily visits. After a 5 day free trial everyone must purchase a monthly membership for $10.00. This is to adhere to the request of the Accountant to document all payments coming in.

MAINTENANCE REPORT

No report.

Mayor Pro Tem Reed made a motion to close the meeting. Councilwoman Makonis seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.
