CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Allen called the meeting of the Resaca City Council to order.

INVOCATION

Mayor Allen asked Councilman Talley to lead the group in prayer.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Allen led the council meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag.

MINUTES

Councilman Talley made the motion to waive the reading of the minutes for the November 11, 2014 meeting. Councilman Barton seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Councilman Talley made a motion to adopt the minutes as written. Councilman Barton seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS

Approve Alcohol License –
Flying J and VP & KK Enterprises- Councilman Talley made a motion to approve both licenses. Councilman Barton seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Approve the Low Bid on Contract for Exterior Repairs at the Ingle House – At Michael Browns recommendation Councilwoman Makonis made the motion to accept Chris Taylor Constructions low bid at $74,941.00. Councilman Barton seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Discuss appointing a Zoning Committee – Councilman Talley made a motion that the Council be appointed as the Zoning Committee as our Zoning Ordinance goes into effect on December 31, 2014. Councilwoman Makonis seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Town Flag
Councilman Talley made the recommendation that the Town look into purchasing a Town Flag. The decision was made to design and purchase a Town Seal first then discuss it at the next work session on January 6, 2015.

UPDATES

Junk Car Ordinance
Peter Olson advised in reference to the Junk Car Ordinance that it would automatically go into effect without the Mayors signature 10 days after it was voted upon and passed by the Council. It is in effect at this time.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS

Sheriff’s Report
Sgt. Chad Phillips gave the Sheriff’s Office Report – copy attached to minutes.

ROAD AND STREETS
Nothing to report.

ORDINANCE OFFICER REPORT
Ordinance Officer Kelly Thurman reported that it has been slow lately and not a lot of progress. Mrs. Choates has a permit, he is not sure if it is just electrical permit or not. Randy is making progress at his property. He is at a dead end on the letters that were returned.
Mayor Allen spoke with the surveyor about having the City Streets surveyed. He can start by surveying one street at a time when the Council is ready to move forward on this project.

LIGHTS
The lights are on the Flag Pole at Town Hall.

RECREATION
Councilman Talley gave the recreation report. Report is attached. Councilman Talley made the recommendation that in the future we consider purchasing a defibrillator.

MAINTENANCE – COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT
The work around Town Hall has been completed. Councilman Barton said they could begin working on the debris around the Ingle House.

FROM THE FLOOR
Mr. Kidd inquired about the purchasing of a Cannon. The prices are extremely high, in the thousands.
The City Truck and the Fire Truck are registered to be in the parade on Thursday. Randy is in charge of getting the trucks ready for the parade.

Councilman Talley made the motion to adjourn the council meeting. Councilwoman Makonis seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
