CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Allen called the meeting of the Resaca City Council to order.

INVOCATION

Mayor Allen asked Councilman Talley to lead the group in prayer.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Allen led the council meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag.

MINUTES

September’s Minutes

Councilman Talley made the motion to waive the reading of the minutes for the September 9th, 2014 meeting. Mayor Pro Tem Reed seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Mayor Pro Tem Reed made the motion to adopt the minutes as read. Councilman Barton seconded the motion. The motion was passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS

Restriping parking lot – Mayor Pro Tem Reed gave the bids from C&R Coating and Callahan Striping. Mayor Pro Tem Reed made motion to accept the low bid of $450.00 from C&R Coating. Councilman Barton seconded the motion. The motion was passed unanimously.

Refinishing the floors in the recreation center – Councilwoman Makonis suggested the Mayor and Council table refinishing the floors at this time to be able to do landscaping outside around the building. All agreed to table the floor refinishing. A special meeting will be called when Councilwoman Makonis gets all the quotes together for the landscaping project. Outdoor Works came in as the low bid on the total landscaping project.

Treadmills – Councilman Talley advised that the treadmills need to be fixed in the gym. He suggested Innovative Fitness repair two (2) treadmills at the cost of $338.26. Mayor Pro Tem Reed made the motion to approve the repair. Councilman Barton seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. The TV’s that are not working in the gym will be replaced with the TV that is in the library for the time being.

UPDATES

Flags
Flags have been installed. The question arose if they are in the correct order. Ordinance Officer Kelly Thurman checked on it and the order that they are in is acceptable. Mayor Allen added that we need to have another pole put up to be able to have a light shining on the flags. The cost is approximately $40.00. All agreed to have a new pole put up for the light.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS

Sheriff’s Report

Sgt. Chad Phillips gave the Sheriff’s Office Report – copy attached to minutes.

ROAD AND STREETS

Mayor Pro Tem Reed advised before we can get the big tile on Dixie street replaced he will have to talk to Barry Hice and get the ditch cleaned out first.

ORDINANCE OFFICER REPORT

Kelly Thurman reported that of the seven (7) letters he sent out that were the original properties. Two (2) came back not delivered and Three (3) have been received by the property owners. The letters stated that they were in violation of the Ordinances listed. Mayor Allen ask if he has been checking on these properties to see if they have been trying to clean up. He said that out the seven (7) he has talked with Randy Wheat and his father. Officer Thurman advised that there are four (4) other cases that he has opened/closed, they complied within a week or so. Mayor Pro Tem ask Officer Thurman if he was seeing an effort made to begin cleaning up the properties. Officer Thurman said that some of the people had began working on the cleanup.

LIGHTS
Councilwoman Makonis said that we have several lights out and she has turned in the list for them to be replaced.

RECREATION

Councilman Talley gave the recreation report. Report is attached.

MAINTENANCE

Councilman Barton is going to have Randy burn the debris behind the Ingle House since the burn ban has been lifted. Mayor Allen advised that Ameri Gas has given us the paint for the gas tank and Randy will paint it and he also has the paint for the basketball goals.

ADJOURMENT

Councilman Talley made the motion to adjourn the council meeting. Councilwoman Makonis seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
