MINUTES

CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Allen called the meeting of the Resaca City Council to order.

INVOCATION

Mayor Allen asked Councilman Talley to lead the group in prayer.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Allen led the council meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag.

MINUTES

Councilman Talley made the motion to waive the reading of the minutes for the August 12th, 2014 meeting. Councilman Barton seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Councilman Talley made the motion to adopt the minutes as read. Councilwoman Makonis made a motion to adopt the minutes from the last meeting. The motion was passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS

Junk Car Ordinance – Mayor Allen had some questions about the Ordinance. After discussing his concerns Councilman Talley made the motion to adopt the Ordinance. Councilman Barton seconded the motion. The motion was passed unanimously.

Approve New Scope of work for the Ingle House – Mayor Pro Tem Reed went over the changes made to the scope of work. Councilman Talley made the motion to proceed with the Scope of work. Councilman Barton seconded the motion. The motion was passed unanimously.

Approve sponsorship of The Young Farmers of Gordon County. We will donate $100.00 and receive a bale of hay decorated as a farm animal. The choice was made to go with a pig design. Councilman Talley made the motion to add this to the agenda. Councilman Barton seconded. The motion was passed unanimously. Councilwoman Makonis made the motion to purchase 1 bale of hay fully decorated. Councilman Barton seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

UPDATES

Beautification Committee
Jess Rodgner advised they met and elected leaders last week and will have their next meeting Monday night at 6pm. They will meet the ordinance officer at that time with some ideas that they have. They would like to plant some flowers around the concrete slab that the gazebo currently sits on. They would also like to check into purchasing a sign saying Historic Resaca. Mayor Allen also added that we need to purchase new flags. Mayor Pro Tem suggested decorating around the flag pole also.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS

Sheriff’s Report

Deputy Jones gave the Sheriff’s Office Report – copy attached to minutes.

ROAD AND STREETS

Mayor Pro Tem Reed advised the county came out on Riverview and dug the ditches out. We need to spend down the old Splost what we have left to spend on the roads. We also need to dig out Dixie Street and re-tile. RV Greeson has stated his concern about his rental property on King street is being flooded due to a tile being stopped up. Will have Randy Wheat check with Mr. Greeson to get the exact location and check into correcting the problem.

LIGHTS

All lights are working. Concilwoman Makonis has contacted the Electric Company to have the light here at the Recreation Dept turned toward the flags and they will be sending someone out.

MAINTENANCE AND COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT

RECREATION

Councilman Talley gave the recreation report. Report is attached.

FROM THE FLOOR

Mrs Rodgner inquired about when the field in front of the Ingle House was going to be mowed. Councilman Barton advised he will have it taken care of. Concerns were voiced about the grass growing up around the fire hydrants in North Point Subdivision. Mayor Pro Tem Reed advised the City of Calhoun maintains them but he doesn’t think they will come cut the grass around them. We will have Randy spray around them. The question was raised about TT entering and being parked in North Point Subdivision. The Council will check into what can be done.

Councilman Talley made the motion to adjourn the council meeting. Councilwoman Makonis seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
